Product overview
Virnig Skid Steer Power Rake
Description
Turn rough ground into a more workable surface with the Virnig Power Rake. Whether you're preparing a seedbed or leveling soil, the rotating carbide-tooth drum helps break up and condition the surface while an adjustable barrier controls how material moves through the rake.
The direct-drive Eaton motor sits recessed behind guards, without a chain-drive system to maintain. Floating linkage lets the rake follow changing ground, and flat-free tires make height adjustments straightforward. Choose the motor that suits your soil, then add hydraulic angle if you'd rather make those adjustments from the cab.
Features
- 72-, 84- and 90-inch working-width choices.
- Direct-drive Eaton motor with bidirectional drum rotation.
- High-Torque and High-Speed motor choices.
- 22-degree floating linkage with full down-pressure capability.
- Round carbide teeth and an adjustable material-control barrier.
- Flat-free tires with 1/2-inch height adjustments; wheel arms fold up for storage.
- Removable side plates mount at the front or rear for material containment.
- Manual angle or optional hydraulic angle, up to 21 degrees left or right.
Choose the Right Motor and Angle Package
Choose High-Torque for tough soil or High-Speed for lighter conditions where faster drum speed is useful. Virnig lists the High-Speed motor as approximately 60 percent faster. Both choices operate at 15-25 GPM and are offered at the same price.
Manual angle does not require electrical controls. Each hydraulic-angle package includes the angle system and one selected controller, so you can choose a complete setup rather than ordering the wiring separately. Match that controller to your loader's actual electrical system; pin count alone does not establish compatibility.
The Bobcat 7-pin package requires CANbus support and may not work with 2012 or older machines. The accessory-plug package needs a powered 12V outlet. The battery-connection package includes the outlet, plug and magnetic switch box, but not a battery. A Caterpillar high-flow electrical connector does not make the rake compatible with high-flow hydraulics.
Getting the Best Finish
Choose a model whose working width at full angle is wider than your loader's tracks. Run the drum opposite your direction of travel, and plan on additional passes in sod or compacted ground. Sticky soil and heavy weeds can reduce performance or wrap around the drum.
Use 15-25 GPM only. Virnig specifies zero overflow tolerance and warns that flow above 25 GPM can damage the motor and void its warranty. The recommended loader operating capacity is greater than 1,500 lb at the supplier's 50-percent rating basis.
What's Included?
- One Virnig PRK Power Rake in the selected width and motor configuration.
- Fittings, couplers and Eaton hydraulic hoses.
- Manual angle equipment, or the selected hydraulic-angle system with one compatible electrical controller.
Published weights are approximate base attachment weights. Hydraulic angle adds 35 lb; separate motor-choice and controller weight differences are not supplied by Virnig.
